A BATHING APE®, which was born in Tokyo in 1993, will release a collection “JAPAN CULTURE” inspired by traditional Japanese techniques and culture. To celebrate this iconic collection,
Collage artist Kosuke Kawamura, one of Japan’s leading creators, worked on the collection visuals.
With an approach using Kawamura’s signature collage technique, Shredder,
BAPE®︎’s first special collection is uniquely expressed.
The collection includes items inspired by kimonos, kendo uniforms, and traditional Japanese work clothes such as the apron.
The “Sashiko Series” has a lineup of kimono jackets and shirt jackets, and the camouflage that symbolizes BAPE® is arranged into graphics like family crests and Japanese patterns. In addition, the zip-up hoodie uses plant and natural dyes to develop a wide variety of traditional Japanese colors.
The “Japan Graphic Series” expresses BAPE®︎’s standard phrases such as the founding year and “APE SHALL NEVER KILL APE” in Japanese in graphics that image Japanese shops.
We put it into kimono jackets, T-shirts, pants, furoshiki bags, etc. that look like remade sail aprons,
I finished it in a pop.
