To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the opening of Shibuya PARCO, we will be holding an exhibition called “Advertising PARCO” 1969 – 2023 PARCO Advertising Exhibition, where you can see PARCO’s advertising expressions.
This exhibition reinterprets the history of advertising creatives from a modern perspective, spanning more than half a century since our company opened in 1969, and provides a panoramic view of the history.
Advertisements are a type of promotional activity for a company and a means of sales promotion, but Parco’s advertisements work hand in hand with top creators of the era for over 50 years, and are sent out as expressions that go beyond the scope of commercials. I’m here.
The venue is structured so that you can get a glimpse of the origins of Parco’s advertising by going back through four eras: “2000s onwards,” “1990s,” “1980s,” and “1970s.” We hypothetically set keywords such as “prophecy” (70s), “advertisement” (80s), “Shibuya” (90s), and “art” (after 2000s) that correspond to the transition of the zeitgeist for each area. , shaping each era.
The posters and commercials to be exhibited will be selected in a dialogue format with two guest curators invited for each area.The contents of the dialogue will be screened at the exhibition venue and will also be included in official leaflets to be sold at the venue.
