Hakuhodo, a major advertising agency, announced on September 27 that it will form a partnership with Stake Technologies, which is responsible for blockchain protocol development and consulting, and establish a new company for the development of Japan’s public blockchain “Astar Network”.
Astar Network is a public chain from Japan launched by Sota Watanabe, CEO of Stake Technologies. In 2021, Astar Network will be the third system in the world to successfully connect with Polkadot via Kusama Netwaork, an experimental network that provides interoperability. It is expected that public chains with high scalability that enhances interoperability and system extensibility that can mutually decode data between different programs will become possible.
Hakuhodo points out that in the new concept of the Internet called Web3, we will shift from the era of data monopoly by companies to the decentralization of management and sharing by users. We speculate that it will be necessary to provide a public blockchain to facilitate development by users, and companies will be required to implement expertise such as blockchain and NFT.
In July 2022, the company adopted Astar Network to produce Calbee’s NFT game. As the first collaborative project, we implemented measures with 10,000 participants.
