Our company Active Gaming Media’s game publishing brand PLAYISM announced on December 2nd, “Urban Legend Adventure Group 2: Alter ego (tentative)” has been announced to be released in the spring of 2024. Compatible platforms are PC (Steam)/iOS/Android, and Japanese/English/Chinese (simplified/traditional) are supported. This work has been developed for smartphones in Chinese, but it seems that it has been decided to release it on Steam and localize it into Japanese/English.
“Urban Legend Adventure Team 2: Alternate Self (tentative name)” is an urban legend mystery puzzle ADV that investigates the disappearance of a popular streamer related to the urban legend doppelganger. This work is set in a world where a popular female influencer, Chris, went missing several months ago and became a hot topic of conversation. She ran a popular channel themed around urban legends. At the time of her disappearance, she reportedly used a mysterious app and disappeared as if she were spirited away.
In this work, the main character meets three people who call themselves channel members on SNS: Reina, Tantan, and Shou. The protagonist cooperates with them as they suspect that a doppelganger is involved in Chris’ disappearance. She continues her search and unravels the whole story of the incident. In addition, the doppelgänger in this work is something that, when you meet an alter ego with the same appearance as yourself, that alter ego will have your own memories and continue to live in the world in your place. In this work, Chris, who went missing, may have been replaced by a doppelganger.
Players will solve an incident in which the urban legend Doppelgänger is suspected of being involved. The story of this work is said to be told using realistic voice calls and chat app-like screens. According to the video, there will be live-action performances, as well as interactive puzzles using AR. There is also a puzzle system that allows you to challenge yourself to solve a variety of mysteries. This work will depict a disappearance related to an urban legend through immersive expressions such as puzzles using AR, chat app-like screens, and voice call effects. The press release calls it a profound scenario and a realistic suspense plot.
Toii Games, which is working on this work, is a Taiwanese developer. According to the official website, the company uses experimental elements such as AR to create immersive gaming experiences. This work, “Urban Legend Adventure Team 2: Bunshin (tentative name)”, is released in Chinese as the second work in the “Urban Legend Adventure Team” series. According to a press release, the system is modeled after smartphone functions, such as AR technology and GPS functionality, and is characterized by a unique immersive experience.
