2022 Oda Kinen Men’s 100m

The Japan Federation of Athletics Federations has announced the series guidelines for the “Japan Grand Prix Series 2023”.

There are 18 affiliated tournaments in total, including Oda Kinen and Shizuoka International, which are held every spring. Member tournaments are divided into three grades (G) 1, 2, and 3, and prize amounts and points differ depending on the grade.

The four highest rated G1 tournaments are Oda Kinen, Shizuoka International, Kinami Kinen, and Athletics Challenge Cup. These will be in the ‘C category’ of World Athletics (WA) Continental Tour Bronze. The G2 “D Category” has 3 competitions, including the Hyogo Relay, and the E Category has 7 competitions. G3 (F category) will be 4 competitions.

The schedule, venue, and events for each tournament were also announced. Every year, the Oda Kinen on April 29th, when many of the top athletes begin their season, will feature the men’s and women’s 100m, 110m (100m) hurdles, and the javelin throw. The men’s and women’s 10000m will be held at the Golden Games in Beoka on May 4th.

Since this year’s Japanese Championships will be held in December, this race was positioned as a qualifying event for the Budapest World Championships, the Pattaya Asian Championships, and the Hangzhou Asian Games. TOKYO Spring Challenge 2023, a new competition whose venue was being adjusted, will be held at the National Stadium on April 22nd.

In addition, this time, we have set up a new “overall ranking” that does not limit the event. Regardless of the event, the competition is based on the total performance points of the top three competitions, and one man and one woman in the overall ranking will be commended as the “series champion” = “the strongest athlete in the track and field”. The ranking points that can be earned differ depending on the grade.

The Japan Grand Prix series is a circuit that started in 2018, and is contested for points throughout the year for designated competitions. “Performance points” are calculated from “record points”, “ranking points” and “special points”. Last year, Rashid Muratake (Jundai) and Nozomi Tanaka (Toyota Industries Corporation) were crowned annual champions for men and women respectively.
