Gopala Bhatta Goswami was a prominent saint and scholar in the 16th century and one of the leading figures of the Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition. Born in 1503 in the town of Shri Rangam (now in Tamil Nadu, India), he was a disciple of the great saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the founder of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Gopala Bhatta Goswami played a crucial role in the establishment of the Gaudiya Vaishnavism movement in the sacred land of Vrindavan.
Gopala Bhatta Goswami is best known for his deep devotion to Lord Krishna and his significant contributions to the devotional practices of the tradition. He is credited with being one of the key figures responsible for preserving and spreading the teachings of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. His most notable accomplishment was the installation of the deity of Radha Raman, a self-manifested form of Lord Krishna, in the Radha Raman Temple in Vrindavan, which he established in 1542. The deity is considered one of the most revered forms of Krishna in the region.
