After the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (907-960) period, when the Tang (618-907) fell and China was divided into many kingdoms, the Song dynasty was founded (960).

The Song dynasty established its capital in Kaifeng, which was a strategic point for land and water transportation, and continued its prosperity by concluding a skilful peace agreement with the powerful nomadic nation of Khitai (Khitan) in the north. I was.

However, Jin (Jurchen, 1115-1234), who appeared in opposition to the Khitai, fled to the south of the Yangtze after the northern half of the country was occupied by military forces due to a failure of foreign policy. He opened a new country with Shangqiu as the capital.

That was in 1127, and the later Song Dynasty is called the Southern Song Dynasty.

The capital was eventually moved to Lin’an (Hangzhou).

Zhu Zi was born in Fujian in 1130 (1130-1200).

His father was a Song official, so he fled south with the Song royal family.

My father’s name was Shusho.

Zhu Zi’s real name is Zhu Xi, and Zhu Zi is an honorific title given to her in later generations.

Zhu Zi’s father was also a student of Cheng Ping and Cheng Qi.

Zhu Zi also became an official in the Southern Song dynasty for a long time, but before long he began to make more statements as a scholar.

When Zhu Zi was involved in politics as a bureaucrat and scholar in the Southern Song Dynasty, the biggest issue was how to deal with the conflict with Kim.

The short story is peace or war.

Zhu Zi is also embroiled in some controversies.

At the end of his life, he was stripped of his official rank and his writings were banned (1200).

Judging from his view that Han Chinese rule was legitimate, I think Zhu Zi insisted on fighting gold.

He died having lost the controversy, but Zhu Zigaku did not die.

In the Southern Song Dynasty, about 25 years after Zhu Zi’s death, the fifth emperor Risong (r. 1224-1264) appears.

He teamed up with the Mongols to destroy their old enemy Kin, but eventually suffered a battle with the Mongols.
