Takuya Tsuru (30) and Satoshi Omi (30) of the comedy duo “La Parfait” appeared as guests on the YouTube channel “New York Official Channel,” which was updated by the 15th. They looked back on their time as university students when they belonged to a comedy club.

The two met as classmates at Kudan Secondary School in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, and formed a comedy duo at Waseda University’s intercollegiate comedy club, “Owarai Kobo LUDO.” While at school, they performed under the name “Relenza.”

Tsuru, who was a student at Chiba University, said he had thought, “If I can achieve good results in university comedy, I’ll go professional,” and that he attended the same club at Waseda University, where Omi was a student.

When asked how well he felt about his activities while he was a student, Tsuru reminisced, “It was good.” Omi also revealed his glorious career, saying, “When I was in my fourth year, I beat ‘Reiwa Roman’ and ‘Laland’ and won the championship.” Yumasa Yashiki of the comedy duo “New York,” who also appeared on the show, commented, “So you’re La Parfait’s generation! Amazing!”, and his partner Kazuya Shimasawa also exclaimed, “That’s amazing. You shouldn’t go (pro).”

In fact, in 2016, they won the “Daigakugeikai” individual competition to determine the best university in Japan, beating out Reiwa Roman (known as Majin Mukkotsu at the time) and Laland. Tsuru was also a member of the 2017 winning team of “NOROSHI”, a team competition for university comedy clubs.

The two became “Japan’s No. 1 University Student” through their skits. Tsuru explained how he got into the entertainment industry, saying, “I had no choice but to go (professional). Once I did, I was quickly overtaken by Laland.”
