Volkswagen (VW) is currently developing an improved compact crossover SUV “T-Cross”, but the camera captured the commercial prototype for the first time.

The T-Cross was launched in 2019 as the smallest model in the brand’s SUV series. Currently, it is a big hit model that reigns as the No. 1 SUV imported in the Japanese market for three consecutive years.

The prototype captured in Brazil features front and rear camouflage to hide the exterior design. However, if you look closely, you can see that the front end has been newly designed.

The lower bumper is wider than the current model, and it seems that a different pattern is inserted. The grille is also slightly wider and, in the higher trims, may be fitted with an LED strip.

The outline of the headlight is inherited, but it seems that the newly designed LED daytime running light will be placed inside. At the rear end, we expect a new taillight graphic and a slightly more compact lens.

No information is available on the interior, but it should include improved material quality and a software upgrade to the digital cockpit.

Powertrains retain the 1.0-liter TSI inline 3-cylinder with two different outputs, while the recently updated 1.5-liter in-line 4-cylinder TSI Evo2 reigns supreme. Like the current model, all grades are expected to be front-wheel drive and offer manual or automatic (DSG) transmissions.

The world premiere of the modified T-Cross is expected in late 2023.
