Chinese food is growing in popularity in Japan, and more and more people are choosing Chinese restaurants for year-end and New Year parties.
At the end of last year, the Chinese restaurant near Tokyo’s Ueno Station saw an average of more than 100 customers a night, more than 80% of whom were Japanese. According to the person in charge of the store, it is impossible to secure a seat unless you make a reservation on Thursdays and Fridays, even outside the year-end and New Year holidays. More than 60% of our customers are repeaters.
A man living in Tokyo who has been to this restaurant dozens of times said, “I’m very grateful to have a restaurant where I can eat authentic Chinese food instead of Chinese food. It’s delicious and I feel like I’m traveling to China. It’s a store that makes you want to bring it,” he said.
According to Japanese media reports, rough statistics show that the number of Chinese restaurants exceeds 300 in Tokyo alone, and is rapidly increasing in places such as Osaka. (provided/CRI)
