Having worked for a major Japanese material manufacturer for about 20 years, I am reporting on my experience in response to Samsung’s headhunting, out of a desire to be more active as a researcher.

In 2010, when I was in my early 40s, I moved to South Korea and started working for Samsung. He says that his work at Samsung, the number one company in South Korea, was very different from that of Japanese companies in terms of the company culture, the support system for professionals, and the nationality composition of foreign employees. Like the author, many of the Japanese employees who were recruited left after about a year. He speaks vividly about Samsung’s strengths and uniqueness seen from the inside, as well as human relationships that foreign employees should be careful about in order to survive at Samsung.
